Our Lady’s Catholic School is owned and operated by six church parishes:Our Lady of Prompt Succor, Sulphur, Our Lady of LaSalette, Sulphur, Immaculate Conception, Sulphur, St. Theresa, Carlyss, St. Joseph, Vinton, and St. John Bosco, Westlake. The school is approved by the Louisiana State Department of Education and the Diocese of Lake Charles.
OLS is governed by a school board consisting of two parishioner’s from each of the six owner parishes, the pastor of OLS, the principal, and the president of the Our Lady’s Educational Organization (OLEO), and the president-elect of OLEO.The Board’s responsibility is to recommend the hiring of the principal to the pastor and Superintendent of Schools. The Board also sets policy for the school. The principal implements these policies, employs and supervises the faculty and staff.
Our Lady’s Catholic School offers a wide array of Academic, Religious and Extra-curricular programs for students in Pre-K-3 through 8th grades. All students have an opportunity to put their faith into action; whether by participating in a service project, collecting food and clothing for the poor or by daily prayer. The faith that is learned at OLS is shared in liturgies and worship and gradually evolves into a living Faith that has no boundaries. OLS has earned a reputation as an Educational leader.Students at OLS continue to score above average on Standardized Test. Currently achieving National Catholic Education Association accreditation, once again OLS has continued to strive for academic excellence, OLS will make every effort to achieve excellence in all endeavors and aspects of our school live. With a variety of clubs and organizations at their disposal, students are given a chance to excell. Organizations including Student Council, Beta Club and 4-H, allow students to participate in regional and state competitions. Offering sports, OLS boasts athletic programs year round. Students from experience team work and sportsmanship through basketball, cheerleading, pep squad, swim team, volleyball, and track and field. In keeping with our school motto, “We are Family”, OLS invites parents to take leadership roles in planning the future of the school. Whether by serving on the OLEO Committee, Athletic Coaches, or School Board, every parent has an opportunity to become actively involved with their child’s education. Events sponsored by these parent organizations include the annual Auction and Lip Sync. These are to bring families together to share in the OLS Spirit!!
